Because of the HR tasks involved in the role, a firm backing in HR to managerial level will be required. The rewards for this job, however, can be immense, with pride and satisfaction coming from a well thought out strategy that delivers on company policy with the minimum of interference. East Lothian is a coastal county in the south east of Scotland, with Edinburgh to its west and Berwickshire (the Scottish Borders) to its south and Midlothian to its south west. To its north and east are the outlet of the Firth of Forth and the North Sea. The county town is Haddington, and thus the county was called Haddingtonshire until the early 20th century.

East Lothian has great connections to Edinburgh via the A1, A198 coast road and rail links. The county itself is relatively sparsely populated, with around 100,000 populating its 250 square miles (650 sq km) area. It serves mainly as a commuter and agricultural area. Towards its eastern edge, Employee Relations Manager work is probably more easily found in Edinburgh, but East Lothian does sometimes bring such jobs to our attention.
