Surviving the Great Manchester Run
Blog
I spent the weeks leading up to the run filled with dread and panic that I couldn’t do it but the atmosphere of the event on the day really spurred me on!
The support and encouraging cheers of the crowds along the route was exactly what was needed to keep going. Reaching the 7K mark and realising that I really could make it to the end without walking made all of the aches and pains of training worthwhile.
To say that I was happy with my run time of 1 hour 3 minutes is an understatement! In fact, all 12 of our runners crossed the finish the line with commendable times, our fastest runner being Chris Roberts who completed the 10K in a speedy 48 minutes! The money has continued to roll in to our fundraising page and to date we have raised an amazing £1037 for the housing and homelessness charity, Shelter. Thank you to all of our friends, family and supporters who have donated to this brilliant cause and helped us to smash our target! Finally, a huge well done to all of our amazing runners, a fantastic day was had by all of our team that took part on Sunday in the Great Manchester Run. There’s talk of Tough Mudder as our next challenge and everyone is already discussing their target times for the 2017 10K!
