Rob Garner gains county

Just before Christmas 2013, Rob Garner CMILT was appointed chairman of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) Cheshire Group. Mr Garner is currently a senior logistics consultant at the specialist recruitment consultancy Cast UK. The CILT is an international organisation dedicated to representing, improving and promoting the logistics and transport industries. Its mother organisation, the Institute of Transport, was founded in the UK in 1919 and spread rapidly around the globe, attaining its Royal Charter in 1926. It merged with the Institute of Logistics in 1999 to form the IOLT and in 2004 added the “chartered” to its name to bring it to its current incarnation. The organisation is divided into nations, regions and counties to best help the flow of information, and members regularly meet to discuss the direction of their profession. Cast UK is a recruitment consultancy that is headquartered in Manchester but serves the UK as a whole, as well as dealing with international appointments. The company is focused on the logistics, procurement and supply chain fields at managerial and director levels, and has always drawn its consultants from these professions and levels. Cast UK has recently initiated a graduate scheme to create new highly skilled researchers and consultants. Gary Robinson, Director of Logistics at Cast UK, encourages and supports his consultants in consolidating their professional credentials. “We’re all really pleased for Rob in taking this step on the CILT ladder,” he said. “He’s a popular guy who really knows his stuff, so we expect him to be a real asset to the Institute.” More information about the activities of CILT’s Cheshire Group can be found here.
