Our project for Tri-Star

Case Study

Established in 1998, in over 25 years Tri-Star have gone from start-up to a leading packaging manufacturer, employing 120 people over 3 sites across the UK. This unrivalled combination of passionate roots and full-service expertise means an innovative team who live and breathe the food sector, with robust systems that build peace of mind.

Whether it’s creating a unique product to build a brand or helping to solve a stock management issue, Tri-Star are leading the way in sustainable and bespoke food-to-go packaging.

The Brief

This CASTTalent project included 20 roles for a new Tri-Star site in Chessington covering; Transport supervisors, Warehouse Team Leaders, Warehouse Operatives & Admin, plus HGV drivers.

The Challenges

  • Recruiting all roles for the new site in an 8-week period to ensure new employees could complete training and inductions ahead of the site going live.
  • Local competitors were a factor in making it more difficult to attract talent, however Tri-Star’s work-life balance and the overall benefits package on offer helped.
  • Finding employees with the right culture fit.

Our Approach

The project was completed using our CASTTalent Solution allowing Tri-Star to access very competitive pricing across all roles including an extended free-replacement period, all first stage video-interviewing conduction online hosted by our dedicated Tri-Star project team.

Our approach to the brief was to hire the managerial positions first. This meant they were able to be involved in the interview process and were able to recruit their own team. We also completed the 1st stage interview for the managerial roles via our bespoke online video platform, saving the Senior Leadership Team considerable time.

To keep within the tight timeframe we pre-empted any issues by pre-booking times & dates for interviews. This ensured that we met the ‘go live’ date to allow the site to be operational on time.

We received a very professional scoping document for the project was produced that was very detailed and easy to understand that outlined all key areas of the project that included all commercials (no hidden costs) and a clear set of terms and conditions related to their overall responsibility for the project.

CAST organised face-to-face meetings to discuss the project in detail prior to the start of the project and ensured that we were all aware of who had responsibility for the various recruitments. It also ensured that we had a great working relationship from the outset.

The Results

The site went live on 11th April 2023, we started the project on 12th Feb 2023. This gave 8 weeks to source candidates, book in interviews, obtain references and ensure the candidates completed their notice periods ahead of ‘go live’ date on 11th April.

Due to the specific skill set required by the client for an Inventory role We made some key recommendations around job description, title and salary benefits and as a result filled the position quickly with an exceptional candidate that is still going from strength to strength, making a real impact on stock accuracy and overall warehouse efficiency.

Overall, we completed 21 hires in 8 weeks. The site was fully operational within 4 weeks of 11th April, with the first 2 weeks spent completing training at the Enfield depot.

What Tri-Star say about us

The main result was that CAST ensured through the effective overall management of the project that we were ready to go live as per the project scope. They remained fully focused on the project right up to the day the operation went live.

From my perspective CAST approached this project with a very professional attitude that clearly demonstrated their desire to deliver a successful project.
