BCA acquires logistics company NKL automotive

British Car Auctions (BCA) has announced the acquisition of Goole-based logistics company NKL Automotive. The deal will see the creation of BCA Logistics and will boost the current offering that the organisation provides to its customers. The monetary value of the agreement was not disclosed but NKL's 200 drivers and operational staff will be joining BCA in the acquisition. There has been no word as of yet on whether or not it will provide morelogistics jobs, but it marks a significant step made by both organisations. NKL was first established in 2002 by Nick and Joy Laisters and its current storage premises is located close to junction 36 of the M62, providing ideal access for major distribution work. Among it services it takes care of valet and cleaning, vehicle and key storage, vehicle refurbishment and vehicle re-allocation. The deal with BCA Logistics has been described as consolidating the company's position as a market leader in providing single vehicle collection inspection and delivery to the UK market. Jonathan Higham, BCA Logistics director, said: "BCA Logistics handles over a quarter of a million vehicle moves annually, and this acquisition further enhances the range and flexibility of services we can offer our customers. BCA Logistics will also utilise the NKL Goole facility to offer additional storage and refurbishment services." As part of the acquisition, BCA will be responsible of the development a number of additional premium services for fleet, lease and manufacturer customers. Mr Higham explained that by ramping up production in terms of its logistics strategy will help it maintain and build upon the reputation it has garnered in the past and maintain the market leading service that it currently offers to its customers. It acts as a significant boost to the automotive sector following the announcement that a new fund to support supply chains was being rolled out in the West Midlands. An aspect of the Advanced Manufacturing Supply Chain Initiative (AMSCI) will help to promote the sustainability of these processes throughout the area.
