Merchandiser jobs
As a Merchandiser you will typically take ownership of a product range, assisted by the Senior Merchandiser or Merchandising Manager, defining the number of products to be ranged to each store and their depth of stock.
With strong commercial awareness, a Merchandiser will ensure the individual product plans meet the KPI targets for sales and will review weekly trading against these targets.
Merchandisers will be able to confidently identify best and worst sellers and adapt the strategy accordingly to minimise risk and maximise opportunity.
With the ability to forecast accurately, Merchandisers are responsible for implementing promotional plans in order to achieve sales KPIs as well as manage exit plans to clear discontinued stock from stores.
Ensuring stock availability in stores is critical, supported by the ability to deliver a commercially viable range replenishment plan.
The skills required
As Merchandiser you may have experience of working within international wholesale and franchise models, with knowledge of buying and merchandising principles and processes. An understanding of global markets is desirable as well as the ability to translate customer insight into working practice.
As a skilled communicator you will be a confident negotiator and well versed in relationship building.
Commercial acumen is mandatory as a Merchandiser as well as the ability to think strategically.
In a fast-moving market, resilience is a valued quality as well as being an agile thinker and problem solver.
Merchandiser Jobs in Westmorland
An administrative county from 1889, Westmorland is a historic part of north-west England that became part of Cumbria in 1974, as part of the Local Government Act 1972.
While the county may not be officially recognised as an entity today, there are a number of thriving communities that were once part of the county. These include Kendal, Windermere and Appleby, all of which offer a number of options for anyone looking for Merchandiser opportunities.
In addition, the beautiful local countryside, which includes the Lake District and the North Pennines, gives those who work in the Westmorland region plenty of outdoor activities for relaxing during the weekends.
Historically, the region was known for producing snuff and other tobacco products, shoes and the delicious Kendal mint cake, which is still a favourite treat today. And while much of the region's modern economy is based on tourism and the service sector, other industries include food manufacture, engineering, IT, design and papermaking.
Just some of the companies that can be found in the region, either with headquarters or other large facilities, include Heinz, James Cropper, pump specialists Gilbert Gilkes & Gordon and Mardix.
