Merchandiser - Yorkshire

Merchandiser jobs

As a Merchandiser you will typically take ownership of a product range, assisted by the Senior Merchandiser or Merchandising Manager, defining the number of products to be ranged to each store and their depth of stock.

With strong commercial awareness, a Merchandiser will ensure the individual product plans meet the KPI targets for sales and will review weekly trading against these targets.

Merchandisers will be able to confidently identify best and worst sellers and adapt the strategy accordingly to minimise risk and maximise opportunity.

With the ability to forecast accurately, Merchandisers are responsible for implementing promotional plans in order to achieve sales KPIs as well as manage exit plans to clear discontinued stock from stores.

Ensuring stock availability in stores is critical, supported by the ability to deliver a commercially viable range replenishment plan.

The skills required

As Merchandiser you may have experience of working within international wholesale and franchise models, with knowledge of buying and merchandising principles and processes. An understanding of global markets is desirable as well as the ability to translate customer insight into working practice.

As a skilled communicator you will be a confident negotiator and well versed in relationship building.

Commercial acumen is mandatory as a Merchandiser as well as the ability to think strategically.

In a fast-moving market, resilience is a valued quality as well as being an agile thinker and problem solver.

Merchandiser Jobs in Yorkshire

A historic county in northern England, Yorkshire is well known for its beautiful green spaces, as well as its intriguing past - but it has also long been a centre for industry and commerce, making it an ideal choice for those seeking Merchandiser jobs.

During the 15th century, the region was locked in civil war against neighbouring county Lancashire. Known as the Wars of the Roses, this series of conflicts over the throne lasted for more than 85 years, although a more friendly rivalry between the regions still exists today - mainly when it comes to sport.

Renowned for its wool and textile industry, Yorkshire also gained prominence for coal mining in the 16th and 17th centuries.

As the Industrial Revolution took hold, the region flourished - this was especially true of Sheffield, which was known for its innovation in the steel industry. What's more, a series of canals and railways was also developed, simplifying the transport of goods and raw materials throughout the region.

Today, a number of large cities and towns can be found in Yorkshire, including, Sheffield, Leeds, Hull, Halifax and Bradford, and within these locations job seekers can find a variety of industries - from financial and retail, through to manufacturing and technology.

Some of the top employers in the region include Morrisons, Asda, Yorkshire Bank Leeds, First Direct, Timothy Taylor Brewery and McCain Foods (GB).
