Aberdeenshire is a large county in the North East of Scotland. Although clearly named after the large city of Aberdeen, the city itself is not technically in the county (Aberdeen City is the local authority), although the city does of course influence the county greatly, not least because the county’s main offices are in Aberdeen City area! Aberdeen borders the counties of Angus, Perth and Kinross and Highland Moray. The population of the county of Aberdeenshire is roughly the same as that of the city, about a quarter of a million.
Aberdeen is a thriving city that is still hugely dependent on the North Sea Oil industry, and is a centre of employment, culture and entertainment that influences the county of Aberdeenshire. Anyone looking for jobs should check the City of Aberdeen first, but the towns in its orbital area are well worth checking out too. Peterhead, Inverurie and Fraserburgh are worth checking, too.
