Senior Supply Chain Analyst jobs
Every productive enterprise has a unique profile when it comes to supply of materials and customer base. Some will have a large number of suppliers; others will have a handful. Some will have a single customer; others will number their customers in the thousands. Whatever the profile of the business, however, all materials and products will channel through the company’s production units and will be subject to the normal business constraints: supply and demand.
The senior supply chain analyst will be a person of wide experience of regulating the flow of materials and products in response to – or anticipation of – demand. He or she will have access to the whole range of data that predicts demand, such as sales and marketing campaigns, the securing of new customers, seasonal shifts and historical trends. This data will be used to inform the production, procurement, logistics and warehousing departments of the expected demand, and they will be able to use the figures and their own insights to ensure demand is met.
In large companies, assisting the senior supply chain analyst will be a team of analysts, forecasters and planners who will help gather the data and put the resultant changes in productivity into action. The analyst will work on both the long-term and the short to medium term schedules to allow the various parties to plan their workloads and supply requirements as precisely as possible to cut down on over- or under-production.
The skills required
Only those experienced in supply chain analysis will be considered for such a senior role. Whether the applicant requires experience as a manager as well as analysis expertise will depend on the position in question; some training might be given if above average aptitude is displayed in one particular area.
Communication skills will be called upon at every stage of the job. From gathering data, interpreting trends, dealing with the team of analysts and forecasters to delivering presentations, forecasts and instructions to the other players in the company, good, precise communication will help turn the analysis from data on a spreadsheet to money in the bank.
Senior Supply Chain Analyst Jobs in Wolverhampton
A West Midlands city that was historically part of Staffordshire, Wolverhampton is said to be named after King Wulfhere after he established an abbey in the seventh century. The city first became prominent as a market town around the 1100s and it was known for its wools and textiles, although it was not granted a royal charter for a market until 1258.
From the 16th century, Wolverhampton started manufacturing items like keys, locks, brassware and ironwork.
During the Industrial Revolution, the city grew significantly, as local mines produced vast quantities of coal, limestone and iron ore. Other goods manufactured in Wolverhampton during this time included steel and japanned ware.
Later, Wolves gained a reputation for producing motorcycles and cars, and the first vehicle to beat the 200 mph land speed record was built in the city.
These days, Wolverhampton is an excellent spot for those looking for Senior Supply Chain Analyst roles. It is mainly known for engineering works, with a specialty in aerospace and precision components - companies in these industries include HS Marston, MOOG and Goodrich. The service sector is also an important part of the city's economy and it is one of the largest retail centres in the region.
Birmingham Midshires is based in Wolverhampton, while Marston's operates a brewery in the city that produces Banks's, Hanson's and Mansfield beers. Other large businesses include Beatties, Chubb Locks, Tarmac and Carillion.
